Another TGIF!
It's been a long work week. I was downtown on Wednesday and Thursday, and in the Tysons office today. I feel like I did accomplish some work, even in nonstop meetings.
Zak came home from school early today, complaining of a headache. He was having headaches at school before we moved, and I was certain it was stress related. The school nurse in Whiteland would give him OTC meds, but not here. We'll have to fill out forms and take in our own supply if we want them to give him meds here. The bigger question though is why a 13 year old kid would be having headaches. He described this as a shooting pain behind his eyes that doubled him over when it hit. Okay, sometimes he is a little dramatic. This time it was just after computer class. Maybe it is just eye strain?
Speaking of eyes, Aly is going to the eye doctor this week. The school nurse gave her an eye exam and she failed completely in her left eye. I remember Jamie had a weak eye about this age and got glasses. That will be a photo opportunity later in the week. Mike is going too. He definitely needs new glasses. His are very 1990s - big round things that cover most of his face. I can't look at him without laughing. Good thing he only wears them occasionally.
Aly's school had a sock hop tonight. She was excited to go, but got upset when her friends wouldn't dance with her. We left after about an hour because she had a meltdown. I don't understand how this happened. She wasn't getting her way. She wanted to leave. I said not yet. She stomped across the gym, squatted in the corner and pouted. WHAT?! Had it not been for 300 students and their parents as witnesses, I would have killed her! By the time we got home, she was hysterical. Mike says he thinks she has to get it out of her system about every six months or so. I think we might not survive the teen years with this one.
In happier news, I've lost two more pounds on my diet. I tried on the bridesmaids dress as a test, and it does zip a little farther than it did. I've lost 4 inches from my waist, but it is the area between my bust and waist that is keeping that zipper gaping open. I think the only thing that is going to work is exercise. Ugh. I just can't get motivated to do it. My first short term goal is 10 lbs by 2/2. It appears I'll make that, but why not shoot for more? Losing it all by spring instead of summer would be a big bonus. Maybe I need to set little rewards for myself? Maybe I should get off the computer and go for a walk. :)
