another car bites the dust

Ok, not completely, and **NO** Edwards were harmed in the making of this post, but I just can't get over this.

Last week, I discovered a large scratch down the passenger side of the van. It has to be from parking at the Metro station. I just didn't notice it because it was on the other side of the van. Of course, the children are oblivious. It might have been there for weeks. But if you read my last post, you know we've never had much luck with cars.

38. I totaled my '74 Vega driving home from WKU in the rain. I rear-ended a truck in Reo, Indiana. The other driver got a ticket for leaving the scene of the accident.

48. My next car, a 1990 Geo Prizm hatchback, was crashed when no one was in it. A policeman passing a car on the left swerved when the car turned left in front of him and crashed into the rear of our parked car. I think they're still in court over it. We had to pay our own deductible.

88. Hey, back to crashed cars. This one is a twofer: A few months after we moved to Boonville, a drunk driver missed the curve and crashed into our parked Chevy Cavalier. He pushed it into our living room, where Mike had fallen asleep on the couch. Then he drove through the yard and crashed into our '99 RAV4 SUV. The RAV4 landed in the neighbor's garden after taking out a fruit tree.

I didn't mention that the Cavalier that was totaled by the drunk driver had also been dented by a hit and run driver in a parking lot (a major dent).

The only accident I count as 'our fault' was with the Durango (hey, I was not the one ticketed in the Vega accident!). We suffered a crunched fender when Mike backed into someone at the Walgreens. Jamie's hubby Matt fixed that for us with my embossing heat gun. See, I use my scrapbooking supplies!!

So after losing our '99 RAV4 (yes, dude totaled TWO cars at once plus the house and a tree), we purchased a '97 model. It has well over 100,000 miles on it and keeps going. In fact, it is still going, even after someone crashed into it yesterday!!

Here's the best photo I've got of the damage but this is no door ding, people. Yes, that is white paint scraped down the side -- Mike was parked next to a white van. How can someone DO this to another car and not leave a note?! The reflector is broken. I just can't get over that dent. Seriously.

I guess the moral of my story is.... I don't have one. I just can't believe our bad luck with cars for crying out loud!!
