Honey?

Mike has been away since last Friday morning. We miss him.

We are out of bread & cheese.
We are out of napkins.
My car almost ran out of gas.
No one's gotten the mail.
I forgot to feed the girl breakfast on Monday.

Honey!? Come home!!

Wild Weekend

The bridal shower was a success. Lots of family, so you know it wasn't quiet. Aly helped with all the games, and the make-your-own sundaes were yummy.
We had brownies, chocolate chip cookies, banana, ice cream (chocolate and vanilla), chocolate syrup, hot fudge & caramel sauce, cool whip, nuts, chocolate chips and sprinkles.
The games were a hit. First, everyone was assigned the name of a dish, taped to their back, and they all had to figure out what dish they were. I was spaghetti and meatballs. Then we had to find a partner that had an ingredient in common. Chris was tuna casserole. I've never seen someone so excited over banana bread and snickerdoodles.
Next we passed around bags of 'white stuff' and guessed what they were. You'd be surprised how much flour, sweet n low, cream of tartar, etc., look when you don't have a label to read.
Most everyone brought a recipe, and I also had them write down a kitchen disaster that Jamie could file away. It was hard to choose just one of mine, but I'm glad to see that everyone there had also had a little trouble in the kitchen.
Jamie was buried in presents and got lots of stuff she really needed. It was a great fun, and once everyone left, Pam, Jamie, mom and I stayed up chatting till after midnight. It was a Phillips girls slumber party.

I had a migraine Saturday morning, but we finally made it to the family reunion. Trina and Mandy had things planned well. We did a scavenger hunt (Aly and I finished second to Pam and Jamie), water balloon toss (my team won), three legged race (winning team: Aly, Zak, Jamie and me), sack races (my team was second), tug-o-war (I was dead by then) and volleyball. The kids went swimming in the lake too. No wonder I was sore this morning.

I need a weekend to recover from the weekend!

Only one more month till my baby sister's wedding. It was only two short years ago that we met Matt for the first time.
She picked up her dress last weekend. Friday is her shower and I'll try on my dress then.

Another no brainer

Surfing the web and found a cool site that tells you what halloween costume you should wear, what advanced degree you should get, and which Sesame Street character best represents your personality.
Somehow I knew
You Are Oscar the Grouch

Grumpy and grouchy, you aren't just pessimistic. You revel in your pessimism.

You are usually feeling: Unhappy. Unless it's rainy outside, and even then you know the foul weather won't last.

You are famous for: Being mean yet loveable. And you hate the loveable part.

How you life your life: As a slob. But it's not repelling as many people as you'd like!

ahhh, another one we could predict
Your Blog Should Be Purple

You're an expressive, offbeat blogger who tends to write about anything and everything.
You tend to set blogging trends, and you're the most likely to write your own meme or survey.
You are a bit distant though. Your blog is all about you - not what anyone else has to say.

Airport Security

Blogging realtime from the Orlando airport. I'm surprised by the number of airports that now have free wireless internet. Very nice, especially if you arrive at the airport WAAAAY in advance of your flight.

Because of the recent news, the Dept of Homeland Security has raised the threat level on US Domestic Flights to Ernie, er, Orange. Don't ya love the terror alert level icon on my home page though? Anyway, this means that the TSA, Transportation Security Administration, has implemented additional security measures. No liquids or gels of any kind are permitted to be carried on board. This meant I either had to check my bag or toss my hairspray, hair gel, toothpaste, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and suntan lotion. Being a cheapskate, I checked the bag. This was also useful since I arrived at the airport approximately four and a half hours before my flight. No bag to drag around.

My comment here, and what I'm hearing from most of my fellow travelers, is "better safe than sorry". Of course, some people are never happy. Already I've heard arguments over mascara and lip gloss, as well as someone who wanted to bring a Pepsi he'd purchased near the gate onto the plane. Believe me, making a scene with TSA is not a good idea today.

My travels take me through Memphis today before I get home a little after 9:00 pm. If we stay on time. I hear some places are doing a gate check of bags. That could slow things down, but its all worth it. I'll be home safe with my family.

Till Monday :)
