Momma, tell me a story
No, that is not a quote from Aly.
In fact, her gem of the day, as I walked into the dining room, was, "hellllo Momma --- if that's your REAL name".
It was me, on instant messenger, talking to my momma, so far away in the Boonville.
And here is our conversation, with some explanations for those of you who don't know Uncle Paul.
Nana tell the kids to call me this weekend because do I have a story to tell them
Pook tell ME a story
Nana it is about uncle pauls new dog that they met
The kids spent two weeks at Nana's last month. That included trips to Uncle Paul's house in the country. Not really the country; Uncle Paul lives in Jockey, Indiana. You thought Boonville was little?
Nana He got up early and went out to feed Lucy and everything was fine and dandy
Pook Lucy?!
Lucy is the name of our Shih-Poo. I can't imagine Uncle Paul with a Shih-Poo.
Nana later he gets a call from the neighbor that they had his puppy
Nana it seems that the doggie next door came to visit and lucy somewhat got loose
Pook uh oh
Nana and pulled a stake out that was buried 10 inches in the ground
Pook loose as in untied or loose as in slut?
oh, you were thinking it too
Nana and they went on a trip
Pook holy cow, how big is she?
Nana about scrappy size
Scrappy, you recall, is our other Shih-Poo, slightly larger than our Lucy but about the size of a housecat.
Nana they took off down the road and from what i understand they never went in the woods - they stayed on the road
Pook road trip!
Note, we are in Jockey, Indiana. "Road" is a relative term. What she really means is "not in the woods".
Nana a lady driving a UPS truck pulled up to a stop sign and both dogs JUMPED IN HER TRUCK!!!!!
Nana She knew another lady down the road who kept dogs so she took them there and they called the vet and got the neighbor lady's phone # to come and get the pups
Pook ahhhh, small town life
There are perks to knowing everyone in your small town.
Nana uncle paul says they were finding a way through UPS to go and find Zak and Aly - isnt that hilarious?
The kids will think this is a hoot. The dog was trying to mail herself to them. Like Homeward Bound, only she was Outward Bound.
Nana the lady said she stopped and they just jumped right in the truck!
Pook because it was an UPS truck with the open door?
Nana yep!
Nana but Lucy is home now safe and sound
Nana and she had her leash on the whole time
Nana and never got caught up in anything
Nana there were no briars ticks or leaves or anything on either dog and that is how they knew they didnt go in the woods
Pook so everyone knew she was lost?
Nana no no one knew
Nana paul got a call that afternoon that said where is your dog
Nana and he said she is outside
Nana the neighbor said you had better go check
Nana he found the rod that she had been fastened to laying in the yard
So you are all thinking, what is the punchline?
There isn't one. I just miss my mom and my little hometown.
