The Inevitable Work Post

Well after two long weeks on the road you had to know I'd have some new stories right?

Actually, I'm so used to airline delays by now that I don't even consider them blog-able anymore. There was one particularly fun one that involved a teenager and his mother oblivious to the passenger in front of them (me).

In fact, I've now determined that I have plenty of fun stories to share, so there will be separate posts. See below for direct links to my (mis)adventures.

June 12-13 Madison, WI
June 18-22 Bloomington, MN and Madison, WI

Really the only thing I can tell you about my June 25-28 trip back to Bloomington was that Northwest was canceling flights left and right, so I was happy to just have a seat on a plane that was moving. Unfortunately, that seat was directly in front of a one year old child who had already been on at least one other plane that day. And Mom was the typical parent today ... "Gwennie, don't crawl under the seat right now, Mommy has to take this phone call." Seriously Mom? Another time would be good for Gwennie to crawl under the seat and grab my ankles with her sticky little hands? Ah, I would soon discover that Gwennie sitting in her car seat was definitely not the preferable option. This child kicked my seat NONSTOP for the 45 minutes on the tarmac (what? weather again? imagine that!) and the 2 hours of the flight. Actually I decided to take one for the team. As long as the child kicked my seat, she didn't scream. I'll take the kicks to preserve my fellow passengers sanity. I did get thank you looks from the flight attendant.

And here's a little PSA for you. If you are the woman sitting next to the lady with the screaming, kicking, undisciplined brat, please do NOT encourage her continued parenting style by commenting that you've "never had such an entertaining ride". If you do this in my presence, you will receive a death look. Just ask the lady in 11C.

So after all that travel, I finally had a day at home. But based on the events of the past two weeks, it was also decided that the current project manager for the new project wasn't ready, and that I'd be taking over. I can't give up my current project, so that means double duty! I'll work with my team on Monday to figure something out, but this definitely is going to cut into my free time. All for the better of the project :)
