Great News I Can't Share
Three really cool things happened today, but not really. Okay, they happened but in one case, it is not my news to tell and the other two didn't really happen yet. Are you confused?
Ok, in no particular order ...
The first thing is the thing that isn't mine to tell. What I can tell you is that my sister finally started a blog. You can see her news on there, and I hope she will be posting photos soon so you can see her work. I'd like to say I taught her everything I know, but really, not so much.
The next thing is about Mike. What I haven't blogged about is that we have found a church home, and Mike has been named the pastor. What is unique about this church is that it is a Korean congregation that has an English Ministry. There are many Korean congregations in this area that usually meet Sunday evenings in English churches (they rent the space). This church has its own building, and the English congregation meets Sunday afternoons. We are pretty overwhelmed by the language barrier (although there are many many folks who speak perfect English), but everyone is so helpful. Between services, the church provides lunch, and our whole family has graduated to using chopsticks, so they don't have to go digging the forks out for us.
So Mike officially starts as Rev Mike (eek) the first Sunday in August (we'll be on vacation most Sundays in July), but he has already preached there a few times. So anyway, the news I'm not telling you is that Rev. Keem called today and told Mike that a certain local newspaper had contacted him for an interview. They are doing stories on area churches, and Rev Keem would like Mike to participate. I don't want to get too excited because the whole article could be 5 sentences, or it could be more. So once I know when/if it publishes, I'll tell you. And this isn't the Boonville Standard, people. Remember where we live ... what would a local paper be?
The last thing is about me. I worked from home today and finally at 4:36 pm, I had time for a bathroom break. Of course, as soon as I got in there, my phone rang. I let it go to voicemail. Of all the calls .... The call was from my PwC Partner, letting me know I'd be getting some paperwork to fill out soon, so they could complete my promotion! She was pretty excited and said there was no question I would be promoted (promotions are effective Sept 1), but now at least I'd be recognized closer to the level at which I'm performing. So, I'm not officially announcing this news, because Promotion Day is the first week of August and my (hopefully obnoxious) raise will be effective 9/1.
Hey, a pretty good day, wouldn't you say?
