What a Week!
Wow, am I tired.
The week started with a slow Monday. The kids had dentist appointments, but Mike took them to that. I stayed home and packed for my trip to California.
Yes, California. I flew through Salt Lake City (in the dark, so no sightseeing) to Ontario, CA. We went right over Las Vegas. Very cool from the air, but it looked so small. I guess at 35,000 feet, everything is small. ((channels Bette Midler and sings)) From a distance, the world looks blue and green, and the snow-capped mountains white.
Speaking of mountains, Loma Linda/San Bernardino is surrounded by them. I think of mountains as giant hills covered with trees, but these things are big mounds of red earth with little vegetation. I made time for sightseeing this time. I traveled a bit on Route 66 and found the original site of the first McDonald's restaurant --not the first franchise, but the first hamburger joint owned by the McDonald brothers. Pretty neat. Obviously, I rented a car (I'm BIG!), and my trip into San Bernardino on I-10 was exciting! I can't believe I was zipping along "the 10" in a Hyundai.
I will say that the travel made for a long day, and the time change was killer. I left Indy on Monday at 4:15 and got to the Hilton in San Bernardino around 9:00 PM ... Pacific time. Yawn. The trip home was weird too. I left for the airport at 7:10 am (I had to put gas in the car and return it) and got back home around 9:00 pm. Double yawn! I think I have to go to San Francisco in January. I'm going to shoot for earlier departure times I think.
Last night was the church trip to see the Indiana Ice. What fun! I want to go back for Harry Potter night, and The Dukes of Hazzard night, and the Pajama Jammie Jam!
As soon as I sleep for a few more days. :)
