Colonial Days
Today Aly's fourth grade class celebrated Colonial Days. Mike volunteered me to help out so I took 12 kids through the different stations this morning. First, let me say nearly everyone, including the students, were in colonial dress - knee-britches, aprons, bonnets and tricornered hats. The grown-ups were in character completely.
Our group started in the Tavern with songs, card games and root beer or ginger ale. We played some sports, like jacks, marbles, rolling the hoop and others. Next was learning about school and how to write with a quill pen (yes, real feathers and ink pots). My last session was making quilts. I missed the dancing, drum & fife corps, lunch and two more sessions, but it was definitely all a big hit with the kids.
I walked with Scrappy to get Aly from school (hey, that is walking two days in a row!) and it is HOT out there, in the 80s. Zak is mowing a neighbor's lawn and I think I'm going on a date with my husband tonight. I have to study tomorrow for the PMP exam, so Mike is taking the kids to Kings Dominion after Aly's pottery class. Oh, and Zak's team won 2 out of 3 at volleyball last night.
Whew! That's an update that will wear you out.
Thanks for checking in!
