Blog Challenge: The Little Things
From my friends at ScrapFreak: Blog about the little things you enjoy with your family.
"Three New Things" at the dinner table
Each night we eat at the dinner table (ok, or sometimes in the family room), Zak and Aly come up with three new things to tell me. Sometimes they make me play. The things are usually related to school, and have to be things I didn't already know. They have to be substantive enough to sustain conversation (no "I had pizza for lunch" unless there was a food fight or you barfed).
Making up silly songs
Mike is best at this, but almost any song you hear on the radio (the easy listening station, please) has been converted to a song about us. Some random lyrics:
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little pup, and as you know, I tear up stuff.
"Against the Wind" is now "Breaking Wind"
And we make up our own songs too ...
Time for the morning sniff-a-roo
Making the peepees and the poo
Everybody outside, let's go pee
Stay in the yard to chase a chi-chi (see below for a translation)
Our silly names for things
Zak=Hector Lou
Aly=Pumpkin & Booger
Mike=Chicken Patty Daddy, or just Chicken
me=Momma Comma, and Mike and I call each other Mahoney (my honey with a long o sound)
Cha-cha=squirrel, chi-chi=chipmunk, hop-hop=rabbit
the cats=Goose-Goose, Butter-Butt
Watching Forensic Fridays
Friday nights at 9 pm, TruTV plays Forensic Files and other investigative shows. Aly and I snuggle in the big bed and watch till we fall asleep.
Watching SciFi Saturdays
Saturdays beginning at 9 am, the SciFi Channel plays the most awful B movies. All day will have a theme - dragons, aliens, natural disasters, insects - you get the picture. We love to drape ourselves over the sectional in the living room and point out the bad special effects.
